To play Overwatch 2, you need to know about roles. While not much has changed, there are still some things that you need to look out for. Whether you play DPS, Tank or Support, these changes will make all the difference; especially if you’re going to buy Overwatch boosting. 

     A number of the playable heroes are getting reworks, going as far as getting their roles changed partly or completely. This leads to variations in role structure shifting as well, with two spots for DPS and support each, but only one tank. Yes, you read that right. In Overwatch 2, each team will only have 5 members and this is mostly for the best. Players can now make better sense of what’s going on with only 10 competitors on field. 

Role Changes 

Damage

     DPS are all about dishing out the damage and aiming for top-fragger. A good DPS must locate their foes and take them out while protecting themselves from enemies. They haven’t the greatest defenses, so they need to work with their team to avoid overcommitting and getting killed. A new character named Sojourn will be joining the roster in OW2 and she is quite the mobile DPS, paired with a mid-range arsenal of abilities to boot! 

     Sombra would still be a DPS in OW2, but her gameplay has undergone major changes. Her hacking abilities will now build up a potential to inflict higher damage over a shorter time period. Disrupt using the Hack ability and inflict deadly numbers on your foes! 

Tank

     Now that there are only 5 players in a team, the sole Tank is as vital as ever. The whole team will rely on this one member for nearly all their defenses. High health and survivability are a Tank’s bread and butter, tanking even the toughest of blows and disrupting enemy abilities whenever possible. 

     The Tank must hold ground and crowd control, but abilities facilitating these are progressively getting YEETED out. The role itself has evolved and they now need more help from their teammates to get things done. One big change in this section is that Doomfist, who was originally a DPS character, got reworked into a Tank instead.

Support 

     Supports can aid their DPS and Tank units in a variety of ways. They can buff, heal, revive, boost and/or increase their team’s chances of survivability, while stunning and/or disabling foes. If you play support heroes, bear in mind what they excel in and stick to it. Far too many supports get picked off for trying to bag some kills, because they just built for the task. This would lead to major detrimental effects on the entire team. 

     Orisa used to be a Support/Tank with pretty low Damage potential. Once a beefy and damage-absorbing hero, Orisa now has increased damage-dealing abilities but comes at the heavy price of her defensive capabilities. She can now inflict high damage, stun enemies from a distance and damage anchored enemies via her ultimate. 

     That’s the gist of the Role changes going live with Overwatch 2! If you play any of the above mentioned heroes, consider the changes made to them before jumping right into competitive gameplay. This is even more important if your Role itself changes. 

DPS; prepare to dish out even crazier amounts of damage! 

Tanks; steel yourselves for the lonely defensive role! 

Supports; your team needs your backup more than ever before!

     Get ready to experience a shared environment for various fun player-versus-player modes with the prequel, in addition to new persistent cooperative modes. The other most glaring change would be the transition into the 5v5 format (instead of 6v6), role changes and brand new heroes. Let’s take a short and sweet look at everything OW2 has to offer! 

No Man Left Behind

     Blizzard is very concerned about their playerbase, as such every player is an invaluable resource to them. Thanks to the ‘shared multiplayer environment’ feature of OW2, players of both Overwatch and Overwatch 2 can compete together in the games’ PvP modes! What’s more, they can even retain all of their goodies (skins, player icons, sprays, emotes, etc) and progression along the way. Existing Overwatch players will also have access to the new maps and heroes. OW2 will have new story content, engine upgrades and refreshing visuals too. 

F2P!

     Yes, you read that right. Overwatch 2 will be free-to-play! Simply choose your platform, ready your internet and you’re ready to go. Bear in mind that OW2 PvP would replace OW upon release. PvE fans fret not, because this aspect would be added in 2023 as seasonal content. Even if you were a fan of the prequel’s unique 6v6 format, better let it go for good now. 

New Heroes

     It’s been awhile since we saw new heroes in Overwatch. To remedy this, prepare for some new faces in OW2. Three new heroes are ready to enter the fray and change the whole experience. Here’s what we know so far;

1. Sojourn: 

     Arms out wide to welcome the all new DPS! This bad-ass queen is a high-mobility gunner armed with an assault rifle. Her weapon builds up charge over time and releases it as powerful railgun bursts. The best way for veteran players to understand her would be as a combination of Soldier’s damage and Widowmaker’s burst.

2. Junker Queen: 

     Her name says it all, a Tank specializing in close-combat brawler armed with a high-damage scattergun. She can pull foes towards her via a throwing knife and even leech health off those affected by her ax. As a tank, her ultimate both heals and provides over-time healing, giving her great sustainability. Don’t forget that precise aim is needed to score kills with her though.

3. Unknown Hero: 

     Now that the DPS and Tank are out of the way, expect a new Support hero for the third. Not much is known about this unit, so all we can do is eagerly await the release. Supports tend to perform thankless tasks in games like this, so it’s high time they get the respect they deserve. Be ready to welcome  many more new Supports going forward in OW2. 

Hero Changes

     Overwatch 2 roles are undergoing some major changes due to the new 5v5 format. There would only be one Tank, two Supports and two DPS now. As such, some existing heroes will receive some changes to adapt to the new environment. 

1. Orisa:

     OW2 Orisa is almost an entirely different unit. Her barrier is replaced by a Javelin which she can now spin to block incoming projectiles. This weapon can be launched to dish out some impressive damage too.

2. Bastion:

     One upon a time, Bastion was an immobile Tank. His stationary life is long gone now, because he now has a set of wheels at his disposal. Bastion can now move whenever in Turret form, even though it is short lived. His self-heal has been replaced with a secondary grenade and his ultimate is now a mortar barrage. 

3. Doomfist: 

     Doomfist is a DPS turned Tank in OW2. The basics are still the same, but his damage dealing punch now serves to push enemies around and create openings for his teammates. Instead of his Uppercut, he can now perform a vertical leap.

     Are you excited for Overwatch 2 yet? Remember that this sequel will retain much of the prequel’s style and vibe, alongside some much needed changes. All your favorite heroes will be back in better getups, greater details and overall visual beauty. These minor but noticeable changes will go a long way for the Overwatch franchise in general, since the game was seemingly dying over the past few years. This console has a battery life of around 4 to 6 hours based on the game you are running. Moreover, its LCD screen features a durable plastic screen, so the screen is safe against any cracking. However, it is still prone to scratching.

Fallout 3 predicted the death of Gary Coleman

Bethesda called this Fallout 3 urban legend a hoax, but that didn’t stop people from believing it. The legend states that if the player kills Tridognite and then destroys Raven Rock without completing the Galaxy News Radio mission, the GNR station will begin broadcasting strange messages. In these messages, Tridognight reads out several numbers until he is interrupted by Morse code.

Players have deciphered the numbers and Morse code and found a prediction of actor Gary Coleman’s death. One of the other predictions allegedly made by GNR is that Britney Spears will have to win an Oscar in 2023.

Rethman in Grand Theft Auto 4

At this point, it’s obvious that Overwatch has a sparing in-game purchase policy and as a consequence doesn’t get the proper funding through in-game case purchases. But the game is still a session game and should be updated regularly. People get tired: they need new content, new maps, new characters, bits of new lore and new modes. To do this you need funding. The money from selling new copies doesn’t cover all the costs anymore. We need a new push of cash flow to continue to develop the project and do something big, not just endless Chinese New Year events.

And then Blizzard decides to make a separate game, which at first is perplexing to many fans of the studio. The company always supports their games for a very long time and does not chase a frequent serial release of games of the same brand. But as it turned out Blizzard didn’t intend to create a separate game in the full sense of the word. It turns out that Overwatch 2 is still more of an expansion of the first part of the game. Yes, it is bought separately as a standalone add-on. People who buy it may not have the original game and conversely can continue playing the first Overwatch without buying the sequel.

That said, Blizzard doesn’t want to divide the audience, and players will continue to play together in many modes. This will make for a big influx of funding for the game, as 80% of the existing audience will probably buy Overwatch 2. While it will be essentially the same game they already play, but with new modes, company, lore, and characters.

Overwatch 2 will continue Blizzard’s tradition and support the existing Overwatch community. Current players will be able to fight with Overwatch 2 players online in PvP mode. Moreover, current players will be able to choose characters and maps from Part 2, making PvP battles remain dynamic and engaging for the community as Overwatch 2 comes into its own.

Why this form of monetization?

Why let Blizzard choose this particular form of monetization rather than the path of increased purchases within the existing game? Most likely this is where we see the direct influence of Activision.

It’s no secret that Overwatch began to be created under the auspices of programmers and game designers Activision (and their partner studios), the people who are mainly engaged in the development of Call of Duty. Blizzard itself had no experience in creating first-person shooters. Coming to the rescue, Activision brought not only gameplay ideas, but also a monetization format. After all, if we look at Call of Duty, we see that there are purchases, skins, add-ons, etc. within the game, but still games in this series are put on stream and produced separately. Activision is deliberately diverting a large portion of the active audience to the new game as they phase out support for the old games. No tournaments are stopped for the old game, no updates are made, and no content is released. This is the model of monetization and support for the game that Activision has been pushing at Blizzard.

And that’s why Overwatch 2 came along, but Blizzard wouldn’t be Blizzard if it didn’t modify this format. In the end, just as Activision and Blizzard merged into Activision Blizzard, the concepts of monetization merged into one entirely new format.

Bottom line

What does this all get us regular players? By and large, it’s a plus for the audience. At this point, most people don’t like the free to play monetization format because it’s often done in a terrible way. There’s a joke going around the internet for a reason, “I’m not rich enough to play free games.” A format that doesn’t give an advantage to one group of players is always a plus.

Let’s hope that Overwatch will continue to be a game with minimal influence of in-game purchases and get a new boost of development.

In today’s society, there has recently been a heated debate between representatives of the feminist movement and game developers. The main topic of controversy is the small number of female protagonists and their excessive sexual objectification. We decided to remind everyone that there are many well-developed female characters in the game industry.

1. Eloi (Horizon Zero Dawn, 2017)

Eloi – voiced by the amazing Ashley Birch – is a great protagonist. She can only stand up to the onslaught of manic robots with a bow and a pointy stick. Well, we may have embellished a bit, but you get the idea…

The game itself makes you fall in love from the very first minutes. A magnificent world, a brilliant story, innovative gameplay all this was to the taste of most people.

2. Jody Holmes (Beyond Two Souls, 2013).

Holmes is the central character in Beyond Two Souls, voiced by Ellen Page. Jody Holmes boasts an otherworldly connection to “the creature.” Through it she can manipulate the real world and the people around her. In the game, she appears as a frightened little child, a rebellious teenager, and a gifted adult.

The game was created entirely in mo-cap(motion capture technology), and Ellen Page’s acting is superb. A strange and wonderful story that everyone should dive into.

3. Max Caulfield (Life is Strange, 2015)

Max is the sweetest character. She wants to help everyone around her, is caring and considerate, and is a loyal friend. She is also endowed with the ability to control time. Throughout the story, she comes across as a smart and determined character.

The game has an interesting and touching story and incredible voice acting.

4. Ciri (The Witcher 3, 2015).

Ciri, aka the lord of space and time. This girl is trained by the legendary witches and endowed with the ability to travel between dimensions. She is skilled with a sword and possesses unfathomable power.

She is the daughter of a powerful emperor and the adopted daughter of Geralt of Rivia, one of the coolest characters in gaming history. Not only that, she is smart, considerate and has an interesting sense of humor.

5. Lara Croft (Tomb Raider).

She is a legend and an icon of the gaming industry. A true symbol. However, the storyline of the games is already very much blurred. Lara is a warrior with advanced investigative skills, incredible athletic ability, and unsurpassed weapons skills. She has a mediocrely scripted background, but we still love her.

There’s also a character we didn’t include in the top, but we couldn’t help but mention her!

1. Ellie (Last of Us, 2013).

Ellie is trying to create a cure for a new disease that she happens to be congenitally immune to. With no special skills, she tries her best to save humanity from extinction. She has a book of puns and reads it out from time to time, which in a bloody meat grinder is a bit relaxing. She’s a really interesting character who doesn’t get discouraged even in such a dire situation. Finally 2020 part 2 of Last of Us is announced, where you can see her again and learn a little more about this heroine.
